Some sensitive tips for parenting an introverted child. One sound simply enough: don't try to make them different, but we live in a culture where extroversion is expected as part of social protocol, and children are pressed to socialize. Perhaps we need to re-think the whole concept of teaching children to socialize, in light of the fact that many of them are introverts.

In the opening of James Thurber's very short story, "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (1939), Walter daydreams of being the Commander of a Navy hydro-plane. The problem is, he's also driving his overbearing wife to a hair appointment.

In this movie review, the author encourages us to take a fresh look at Walter Mitty: he was a dreamer who just needed to accept himself! In fact, he needed to accept himself as an INFP. This makes me want to see this movie, and to definitely read the story again!Image may be NSFW.

In some cases, it would seem that their introversion really helped to shape who they were. For example, Johnny Depp is known for playing quirky characters. As an introvert, he takes the time to really think through his characters and their motivations.
